She may have them sooner then what we had expected. We all had estimated her pups in two weeks. Took us by surprise! As of 2/19/06 at 10 pm; she has started panting, digging and making a nest again, but this time around the action has lasted the entire day. As the days go by, she seems to increases the nesting behavior. I think today we may be having some pups! She is looks like a wild turkey looking for her nest, let see what happens from here!
The Dairy,
"Tracking the Pregnancy."
It's around 4 am and I 've had no sleep! She doesn't let me out of her site, she goes in and out the of the box. If I was to sit near she will sit still and go back to her box.
No Pups... She continues the panting more rapidly then before, take a look her tonque, looks like it's going to fall out. As for me, i'm sipping on some coffee so I can stay awake. I sure don't want to miss this! I Hope she has them before morning or I will be long gone- alseep! :o(
No pups.... I Fell asleep by her side. Didn't even realized it. She is now panting excessively more then ever! She looks like she has ran a marathon! She lays down and shivers with her eyes closed. She keeps sitting down in different positions. She licks herself more and looks at me with this bug out stare.
Temp check is about 99.7f degrees. Pacing and not leaving my site! Walks around the house like she lost... No pups yet. Called vet AGAIN and I'm afraid im driving them NUTTS! If no pups by 1:30 pm going to the vet! Can't take it, feels like she going pass out panting, or maybe I'm LOL...

Maybe this a good sign!!! Finally she went to use the bathroom outside and done number 2. She is preparing her nest by walking in circles and pushing sheets and stuff around. She looks like she looking for a place to nest. She is wining a little while she moving stuff around. She is also licking herself more frequently.
Cross your fingers, maybe this a closer stage to labor now! Here is a photo of her building her nest. Take a closer look as she grabs her teddy huskie bear and puts it under her chin. I have kept trying to feed her some food, She hasn't ate the entire day, but she refuse to eat and she even placed a towel over her meal. I'm sure this a sign for me? "Like momma stop doing that!" "Stop temping me!" Take a closer look at the picture. I thought it was cute, she had enough of me trying to feed her. Okay this is a good sign of no food means-> pups are on the way!!.

I have Just seen her nesting again as well as shivering and panting. Lying there miserable as can be. I just can't take seeing her pant anymore, it's pitiful. She seems not to be able to stay still!
Take a look the photo, she lays on her side and then gets up and circles around to lay back down.

Sad to say, It could have been (four) pups only.
Take a closer look at the photo. Pup on the left with the red arrow was barely alive when born. The puppy looked purple and lifeless. We thought it was a still born since he didn't move and just flop over my hands. I knew I only had a minute left to do all that I could do to bring him back to life.
So, I begin to hold the pups head between my two fingers and swing him in a down motion, then I use the syringe to take the liquid from his mouth and his nose. After that, he still didn't move. I knew that time was a virtue to this pup, so I begin giving him as we say, mouth to mouth, barely blowing air into his lungs and rubbing him with a warm towel, rubbing him frequently as well as swinging the pup lightly to a downward position to help take out any remaining fluids from his lungs. Right then, I heard him rattle and gasping for air, so I can continued until I seen his color come back , his pink tongue and heard the pup cry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last born made the number five... :o)
Yes! A total of five pups, unbelievable! Small litter, but big pups!
Here they all are, what we have been waiting for, there arrival.

I introduce to you, my first pregnancy adventure with Ahkita. When I first rescued , "Ahkita" she was pregnant. Along with that was a lot of hard work that I would have never expected. At the end of it all, it was a quite a rewarding experience . I can not explain the joyment it brought to our family and especially my son who learned so much about life. We all shared alot of fun times with the pups, funny things they did, each puppy owned a different charter and it was interesting in fact.
Along the way, I gain a experience on whelping. So I decided to create this webpage to share with you my, "Dairy Notes." My dairy explains the whelping stages throughout my pet's labor.
As a first timer in, "doggy delivery," I had spent a lot time trying to find the right website for information on what to expect and what to do . I hope that you can benefit from my own experience of whelping through MY DAIRY.
Have fun! Remember, although you can keep them all, your loving touch will show those rugrats about a loving human experience. Enjoy! Don't hessiant to send me an email with questions.
